This practice will help you experience the power of the pause. Read it first then try it for yourself.
Choose a time when you are involved in a goal-oriented activity such as reading , working, cleaning, eating – and explore pausing for a moment .
First , stop what you are doing , sit comfortably and allow your eyes to close . Take a few deep breaths and with each out-breath, let go of any worries or thoughts about what you are going to do next . Release any thightness in the body as best you can.
Now, notice what you experience as you inhabit the pause .
What sensations are you aware of in your body?
Do you feel anxious or restless as you are to step out of your mental stories?
Do you feel compelled to get back to whatever you were doing before?
Can you simply allow yourself, for this moment to sit and be aware of whatever is happening inside you?
